Eastern Sierra - October 2024

A week-long trip to see and photograph the fall colors, as well as a visit the Alabama Hills.

We started in Lee Vining and captured images of Mono Lake, as well as a drive around the June Lake Loop, which was reaching its peak of fall colors. A drive down Highway 395 (my favorite road), with detours to Mammoth and Convict Lake, to the little town of Lone Pine. That was the base to explore The Alabama Hills with glorious views of Lone Pine Peak and Mount Whitney. Then back up 395 to stay in Bridgeport before starting the drive home across the Sonora Pass. (This was a little more scary then I would have liked as the temperature was 30F with an overnight dusting of snow on the ground. With extreme bends and 1000 ft drops over the edge, I had to keep my eyes on the road the whole way!)
