BIRDS
Every time I make my way to create seascapes from the beautiful coastline of Northern California, I see flocks of pelicans flying in formation up and down the coast, often just a few feet above the waves. They are graceful and magnificent flyers, but are strange to look at, often reminding me of illustrations I have seen of what prehistoric flying pterodactyls may have looked like!
I find it almost impossible not to photograph these birds, and as a result have accumulated hundreds of images. Here is a selection of my favorites.
There are two types of pelicans that I have photographed - the Brown Pelican, which is common along the coast, and the American White Pelican, which can be found in the marshlands of San Francisco Bay at certain times of the year.
